The Fart Pedal: Number Two – Exclusive Interview on the Ultimate Toot-Tweaking Guitar Effect
When the original Fart Pedal hit the scene, it became an instant sensation, proving that humor and music could harmoniously coexist. Now, the highly anticipated sequel, The Fart Pedal: Number Two, is here—bringing even more hilarity and control to the world of guitar effects.
In this exclusive interview, we chat with the mastermind behind the pedal to learn how this version improves upon the original, the serious engineering behind the silly sounds, and what’s next in the world of unconventional music gear. If you’ve ever dreamed of pitch-perfect, fully customizable farts coming from your amp, you won’t want to miss this!

Michael (GizmoCrowd): The original Fart Pedal was a massive hit. What inspired you to create The Fart Pedal: Number Two, and how does it improve upon the first version?
Steve Gadlin: From the minute the first pedal launched, people were asking for pitch tracking and a blend knob. It took a few years to figure out how to pull that off, but I’m excited to be dropping a deuce with features people want! I still love the original Fart Pedal. I think this is for a different type of guitarist, who wants more musicality from their farts.
Michael: The pitch tracking, blend knob, and wet/dry toggle add a whole new level of control to the fart sounds. Can you walk us through how these features work and how they enhance the user experience?
Steve Gadlin: The wet/dry toggle lets you determine the moisture level of your farts. Turn it to wet, and you can blast juicy sploots. The pitch tracking allows you to produce farts in the notes that you play – so you can play recognizable riffs and solos with your toots. The blend knob lets you mix your guitar’s natural tones into the mix. But we keep everything a little random – I like the pedal to be as surprising for the player as the listener.
Michael: The pedal features 40 bespoke fart sounds, carefully crafted by Foley artists. How did you go about designing these sounds, and what makes them unique?
Steve Gadlin: These are fart sounds you won’t hear anywhere else! We’ve worked with a sound effects company in Chicago to create these farts using traditional Foley tools. They’re recorded in studio conditions, so they sound amazing coming out of your amp.
Michael: Developing a guitar effects pedal with real-time pitch tracking and low latency is no small feat. What were some of the biggest engineering challenges you faced, and how did you overcome them?
Steve Gadlin: I’m the ideas guy. Thankfully I had a chance to work with some brilliant engineers on this project. Even though we’re dealing with farts, this was very serious science. There was a lot of tweaking right up until the last minute to make sure the sounds were pitchable, but still sounded like farts. We towed a very fine line, but I think we found the sweet spot.
Michael: The Fart Pedal has already pushed the boundaries of musical expression. Do you have any plans for future versions, expansions, or other wacky effect pedals?
Steve Gadlin: The Fart Pedal: Number Two runs on updateable software – so as we make changes to the farts and pitch tracking algorithms, people can update their pedal without having to buy new hardware. I’m also working on a super top secret pedal that I hope to debut at NAMM ’26. I won’t say anything about it, other than it’s sure to bring smiles to everyone who tries it out.
