AirCore OWH by Movengine: Hi-Fi Open-Ear Sound, Redefined
Movengine’s AirCore OWH is rewriting the rules of headphone design. With a bold open-ear structure, dual listening modes, and studio-quality sound, this next-gen audio system delivers room-like Hi-Fi clarity without sacrificing comfort or awareness.
We sat down with the Movengine team to explore how the AirCore™ acoustic platform was born—from the challenges of balancing openness and fidelity to the tech innovations behind its dual-driver system and smart ambient noise detection. The result: a headphone that’s breathable, immersive, and made for everyday freedom.
The Vision Behind AirCore™ OWH and Open-Ear Innovation
After the success of your foldable bone-conduction headphones, what inspired you to pursue the AirCore™ open-ear design? How does this innovation reflect your mission to redefine how sound should feel?
First, we’ve always been committed to open-ear listening. The problem with traditional open-ear designs is that they usually compromise sound quality to achieve that openness. So, we asked ourselves: can we make open-ear listening possible without sacrificing audio fidelity? After over two years of experimentation, we developed our own solution – the AirCore™ design. As for our mission to redefine “how sound should feel”: we believe the ultimate goal of any sound system is true reproduction — to restore sound to its original form. In everyday life, we hear sound in a free sound field. Traditional headphones, however, reproduce sound in a closed pressure chamber, where reflections and resonance distort the audio.
Eventually, with AirCore™, sound travels more freely, reducing internal reflections and creating an experience similar to listening through Hi-Fi speakers.
Reimagining the Soundstage with AirCore™ Technology
The AirCore™ OWH delivers a Hi-Fi room-like listening experience without isolating the listener. How does the hollow open-ear structure create such a wide, immersive soundstage while maintaining comfort and clarity?
First of all, to bring this experience to life, we use a dual-driver architecture:
- A 50mm AirCore bass driver, our proprietary technology with high power and large diaphragm movement, delivers deep, powerful bass.
- A 9×28mm high-frequency driver handles treble, extending up to 40kHz.
What’s more, to support these drivers, we incorporated four high-power digital amplifier chips, which work together to deliver the wide, immersive soundstage AirCore™ is known for.
Comfort Meets Performance – A New Standard
Unlike traditional headphones or in-ear buds, AirCore™ OWH is designed for pressure-free, all-day listening. Can you share more about the ergonomic approach behind the 309g design and how it addresses ear fatigue?
First of all, we designed AirCore OWH to be pressure-free and breathable. Even if it is in hot or humid weather. The ear cushions are crafted using Leica fabric, a material commonly used in clothing that touches the skin, making it hypoallergenic and safe for extended wear.
Besides, we also gave the fabric an “ice-touch” treatment, lowering the perceived temperature by over 2°C compared to standard materials. On top of that, we ergonomically engineered both the headband and ear pads to fit 90% of head shapes and sizes — maximizing comfort and reducing fatigue over long listening sessions.
Dual Listening Modes and Smart Noise Detection
AirCore OWH lets users switch between Open and Sealed Modes, with smart environmental noise detection recommending the best option. What went into developing this feature, and how does it enhance real-world usability?
The core of the AirCore OWH lies in its physically switchable acoustic structure, which allows users to manually switch between open and sealed modes based on their environment.
On the one hand, sealed mode is ideal for immersive listening on planes, trains, or while commuting.
On the other hand, open mode enhances environmental awareness, perfect for urban traffic or outdoor walking – improving safety by allowing you to hear what’s around you.
Finally, we designed AirCore™ OWH to be a true all-scenario headphone.
Future Vision for Movengine and Audio Freedom
With the AirCore OWH setting a new benchmark in open-ear audio, what’s next for Movengine? Are there plans to expand this technology into other form factors or specialized audio gear for creators and audiophiles?
Absolutely. We have a full product roadmap built around the AirCore™ acoustic platform:
- Firstly, OWH1 – A premium model for the high-end Hi-Fi market, tailored to professionals like music producers and audio enthusiasts who demand the highest soundstage fidelity.
- Secondly, OWH-Sport – Designed for outdoor and active use, such as running or cycling. It balances music enjoyment with environmental awareness for safer movement.
- Thirdly, OWH-Lite – A lightweight, everyday commuter version. With smart adaptive sound modes, it automatically switches between open and sealed modes based on your surroundings. We’re building an ecosystem around AirCore – bringing natural, unboxed sound to more people and more scenarios.
Thank you to the Movengine team for giving us a deeper look into the vision behind AirCore™ OWH. With its breakthrough design and evolving platform, you’re not just building headphones—you’re creating a new standard in spatial, open-air audio. We’re excited to see how you continue to set sound free.
